fans
i have a 92 Z28 w/ 5.0 tpi. the fan on the passenger is always on, and comes on as soon as i turn on the key. the d. side only comes on w/ ac use. i am pretty sure this is wrong. the wires ar ok and not tampered with and the relays tested okay. what should i check?

been a while but i think on a duel fan set up one always runs and the other is turned on by the ac or a temp switch. i'd say you're fine, if the car isn't over heating you don't have a problem.

I don't believe the fan is supposed to run all the time. In my 91 the first fan comes on at 220 degrees. The second fan comes on with the ac or when (hopefully never) the temp reaches 240. It's more than likely that the previous owner wired that first fan so it'd run all the time. I suppose it's also possible that your temp sensor is screwed up and telling the computer that the car's temp is over 220. But in that case you would have problems starting the car, especially in the cold. My advice is to check the wires again, especially around the relay. And make sure you have the correct relay, as there is one for each fan.
