383 recommendatis please
guys im not posting this to be lazy about research just know alot of you here have alot of experience and i respect your opinions. Muy current combo (being built)is a 383 with srp flat top pistons eagle h beam 6" rods eagle stroker crank afr195 with 74 cc chambers.cam now is comp xe custom 224-230 .534lif in .510 on exh on a 112 lsa. iam using a miniram intake 700r4 trans w/ 2200 stall and 373 gears.
My engine builder suggested using afr 180 heads to give it a more steetable approach. The car will be a weekend driver but i do want it to retain fair driveability while gettin a fgood amount of power any comments or suggestions welcome thanks!!:hail:

I would say I know where your engine builder is coming from with his recommendation, but I think the 195s are just fine. What I think he is thinking is that the 180s will help low end torque by increasing the velocity of the intake air charge. However, 195s don't, when combined with an engine like how you hope your 383 will be, compromise that low end torque much at all. Currently, my 385 uses heavily ported 190s with an HSR. My low end is just fine and once I get it dialed in my high end should be good too. Just my .02$...
Also, if you do notice, there are many members using the 190 and 195 AFRs here with street driven, daily drivers. We are happy with our streetability...

I got a 383 with AFR 190's on it and the street ability is just fine. When i got 400+ RWTQ it just makes the street that much more fun
Guys i appreciate you posting and thanks for your xperiences im stickin with the 195 's . I, like you both believe they will get me where i wanna be with the combo. just wanted to here from someone else that has been there before, thanks. I hope that others would understand we are all here to learn from one another and share xperiences not to ridicule or attack one another. thanks guys
