Ive got an 82 Z28 with crossfire injection, this is my question, i was driving it today, and i started hearing a growling noise from the back of the car, then all of a sudden i hit the brake, and my car would not downshift, then it turned off, and it will not turn on! it just cranks and cranks and nothing happens, do you think my fuel pump is out? if so where is it on my car? and how do i change it, please help me out guys, any info would be appreciated, this car has never gave me a problem until today, msg me asap

Transmission: sure does
Does it have spark??

Do you see any fuel being sprayed from the injectors while cranking??

Could be the pump.

The pump is in the tank and its not fun to get to on your back in a driveway.

Theck to obvious first. Spark, and fuel pressure. Try a little starting fluid or gas down the throttle bodies and crank it over. If it starts, then you know it's a fuel problem, if it soesn't it's a spark problem. If it does start, and there is fuel pressure, then it's the injectors, or ECM. No fuel pressure means it's a fuel pump, relay, or bad connection or the pump. good luck.

There are three possible reasons why it won't start, no fuel, no spark, something electrical.
1. check your fuel pressure with a gauge (don't know how?, email me)
2. pull a plug wire and check for spark (if you have extra plugs about or pull one of yours)
3. sniff around with an electrical tester looking for "hidden kill switches" (speaking from experience) from a previous owner. Make sure your ignition is tip top.

Starting fluid is really rough on the valves, etc. Try so good ol' WD-40. I've even been able to start a badly flooded engine after spraying a good bit of WD down the carbuerator. It may take more WD-40 than ether, but you won't hear the valves rattling like tin cans.
