Fuel Pump

Hey guys,
I just had my fuel pump replaced and the new one keeps running for a few seconds after I shut off the car. I don't remember the old one doing this but then again I did not pay that close attention. It is an in- tank fuel pump on a 91 Formula with a TPI 350. Everything seems to be running fine I just wanted to double check with some of you to be sure. I appreciate it. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

totally normal. just replaced mine with a walbro high flow and noticed the same thing. the pump is just priming the line back up to pressure for an easier restart. if it continues to run for more than 2-3 seconds then you might have want to check things out relay, short, etc...

did you do it yourself, or did you take it to a shop?? if you did it yourself, how much did it suck; if you took it somewhere, how much did it cost?? curious, because i think i need a new fuel pump.

It would suck pretty bad at this time of year if you gotta do it in the driveway! If its inside and nice and warm then go for it cuz its not that bad..

Yea, its normal I had mine replaced a few months ago and it runs for a few seconds after I shut the car off. I had a local auto shop do it and it set me back about $550.

Holy cow Dan. Send me some money to put in to my car if you have that much to spare! I'd change mine in zero degree weather myself before I paid that much! Hey Mike, I helped my buddy change the pump in his 86 IROC out in his driveway in January. All I gotta say is thank God for Carhart coveralls!
