best thing to do is buy a manual for emission coltrols, or eletronic controls and establish a good base line tune up and follow the flow down for trouble shooting the code(s) you have set.

On your '91, the '43' should be a problem with excessive spark retard of the ESC or excessive knock sensor inputs. In either case, you should check/set your base timing.
