does intake manifold matter?

i wanna get a new intake manifold for my 305 and be able to move it to my 350 when i finish building it.

does choice of intake manifold matter? i know it needs the egr valve. but what i dont know is the degree of heads i need it to be compatible with. thanks for any advice

i think you'd what the intake you by to match the heads you have, or are planning to have. it might help us all out if you said what kind of heads you have.

ok so i take it that the heads are more important then the intake manifold?

then my question would be, what is all the definitions for the terms used and which way is usually best be done.

like when i see 64cc combustion...

170cc intake runner..

.480" lift cam

1.94" intake/1.50" exhaust valves

3/8" pressed in studs

for example of one i found

is the higher the number the better? and which one is more of a priority in performance gains

thanks to anyone that wants to explain this to me.!

There isn't one thing that is more important than the other. It's all in the "package".

The intake has to mount to the heads. Since there are different head types out there, you need to use the same type on the 350 that you use on the 305 (with regard to intake ports, anyway).

The intake has to be of the right powerband to match the cam. The cam can't overwhelm the heads. Compression is a factor in cam choice.

So, build the 350 "package". If you can use any of the stuff on the 305, fine, but don't choose anything because it will work with the 305 if you're building a 350.

With what you've said, the least important consideration is the "degree" of the heads (sounds like you're working with stock-type stuff).
