Can I buy this from GM

I was wondering if I could buy a new block from GM. I do not want the cost of an aftermarket block and was thinking that maybe just a plain 350 4 bolt main block would be cheaper, because it is all that I really need. Or is there another company that sells blocks that are just stock replacement?

What's wrong with a used block?

If you want a stock replacement 350 you could just get a goodwrench long block. Theyre cheap and theyre stock replacements. You can also get it as a shortblock (no heads/valve train) as well. I too agree that there is nothing wrong with a used block as long as it can still be cleaned up and its not cracked.

To answer your question, yes. Go to the GM Performance Parts online catalog. GM sells all kinds of blocks. I checked on one 350 block, p/n 10066034. (There are a lot more than that, I just happened to pick that one). At gmpartsdirect.com that block goes for $567 (list: $810.) Now, keep in mind that does not include shipping, and gmpartsdirect gouges on shipping.

For a paltry $4,200 you can be the proud owner of an all aluminum block (shipping not included). Or, how about a 427 C5R block for $6,200?

www.sdpc2000.com has them for around that price, and they don't gouge on shipping.
