Timing question
Hey everyone, newby and I need some help. I just rebuilt my first 350 to go into my IROC with the TPI installed and all the wiring marked. I have the crank in and the cam installed too. I have been hearing some people setting the timing. Now I know I'm supposed to align the marks on the cam and crank but do I set the timing with a gun when it runs or do I have to set it while its still on the stand?
Any input will be appreciated.
Thanx.

The cam and crank gears must be timed when installing the timing chain by lining up the dots on the gears.
The initial ignition timing must be set up with a timing light, with the engine running.
