tires
There's not a "tires" forum here, so.. here goes.
What's the widest sized tire I can fit in the back? I've seen 245's but they've still got plenty of room. I don't want it to stick out any more than an inch past the body of the car, as that would just be...
ugly on a street driver. heh
Are there any mods that make the wheel wells deeper? I'm guessing since the gas tank's right there there's not a lot that can be done.

everything stock, except for a mirror that fell off

Enkil,
If you want to maintain the correct overall diameter of the tire, you'll also be somewhat limited by what is commercially offered in the given wheel sizes. If you are using 16 x 8" wheels you might have to increase wheel width to accomodate more tread width. The overall diameter of a 245/50-16 on a stock TA or Z is 25-5/8". To maintain that diameter with wider tread, you'll have to decrease the aspect ratio. A 275/45-16 would be very close (within 1/8") but might not fit well on an 8" wide wheel. A 305/40-16 is nearly perfect in diameter (within 1/16"), but certainly won't fit well on a 8" wide wheel.
Decide what wheels you will use, then decide what tires you want, then determine the wheel center offset necessary to keep the tread under the body. If the offset is not available in the wheel you want, start over until you find what suits you.
