Code 15, wont rev past 2200, backfires

I flushed the radiator and replaced all of the hoses today, and now my Z doestn run right. I just finished installing long tube headers yesterday, and it ran well with open headers, I hooked up the exhaust, and now I get a code 12 followed by a code 15,12,15,12... ect. I know that code 12 is normal. The engine idles fine, but as soon as I try to rev it up, once it gets up to like 2000 rpms, it starts ******* and backfiring, and wont rev any higher. It seems like my exhaust was a little rich, how can you tell? Also, do you think I need a heated O2 sensor?

thanks

Sounds like the symptoms of a clogged catalytic converter...

A code 15 is CTS (TEMP LO). Check your coolant temp sensor.

Coolant temp sensor reading really low will indeed give you some truly creative running problems. Prolly just got disconnected while you were under the hood doing other stuff. It resides on the front of the intake manifold, but the thermo housing... I think.....

cts

Ok, I got the new cts today, swapped it in, and it didnt make a difference. I hooked up the sensor while it was out of the block, and the engine ran the same. however, if I disconnect the cts, the engine dies, and wont start.

I'm still pulling a code 15
