Fire, Fuel, and No Start

Last week I put in some 24# injectors and a new Holley Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, and also managed to break the little pigtail off the EGR Temp Switch. So I ordered it and put it in today, got everything back together and now my car won't start. I've got spark, I've tried 35 psi to 48 psi with no difference. It just turns over and over again. Even with starter fluid, got no response. Any ideas on what I need to check next? This is my only car and I have to be at work at 8:00 in the morning.

logic would say you messed something up. it does seem very strange it won't fire on starting fluid. are you sure you have spark? it doesn't take much to light off starting fluid.

It has spark, I pulled a wire off dist. and it arched all the way across to the plenum. I also put a test light on the injector wires, and they were solid with the key on, and flashed with it turning over so I know that it should be spraying fuel. I'm at a loss here, I don't know what is going on.

Then you might have a bad set of 24 lb injectors.

Well, I think I'll quote one of my favorite sages from antiquity....

"The simplest explanation that fits all the facts is usually the right one."

-Occam, ancient Greek philosopher, from the days when all cars had carbs and you just had to stay home from Oct until Mar because carbs don't work when it's cold outside

Sounds like your plugs are fouled from too much fuel. I'd suggest a new set of spark plugs.

And this time, leave your FPR set real low, and increase it just a little at a time, until it runs right at WOT. You're going to need some PROM tuning to get it right with normal FP and the larger injectors.

Ok, we changed the plugs, lowered to fuel pressure to 38 psi, and finally got her running. But now it feels like it's missing. I pulled each individual plug wire to see if I could find, pulled 1,3, and 5 and the car died each time. Went to the other side, pulled 8, 4, and 2 and there wasn't even a change in idle. It's like the whole side is gone, what would cause that?

There are 2 "ECM" fuses in the fuse box. They actually supply power to the injectors, not the ECM, one for each side of the engine. Check those first. Check the pink/black wire to all the injectors on that side and make sure there's 12V there with the key on.

If those are OK, check the wiring, make sure the plug for the pass side injector harness didn't get accidentally left unplugged somewhere along the line.

If it passes all of those visual things, try a noid light.

that's funny you bring that up now, when you posted, I was out there changing a fuse that I must have blown trying to test the injector with a light. Put in a new fuse and bam, starts right up, idles smooth. Thanks for ya'lls help. I'm just glad to get her running again.
