How much HP?

I'm trying to get a truck from a friend of mine. It has a 350 4 Bolt Main out of a church van....and a 350 Turbo Tranny. How much HP can I get out of it....what else should I take off the truck....and what should I change right away? My berlintta has a 305 carbed in it now and I also have an 87 monte carlo w/ 2.8V6.

There's a big difference between, "How much power would it make if I install it in my car as-is", and "How much power can I get out of it".

For the 1st question, the answer is about the same a 305 in the same condition.

For the 2nd, it's significantly more than twice what your current 305 put out, with the proper modifications and plenty of money.

if you get that 350, do any work to the engine before you put it in your car.

the biggest two things that make that engine so weak are the heads and cam.

the heads are terrible 7Xcc smogger heads, and the cam is tiny.

better flowing higher compression heads, and a bigger cam, and you'll make twice as much power as that 305.

something like vortec heads (if you don't mind spending the $50 extra for the special intake manifold)

and a comp cams XE262-268 cam would work real nice.

Not without spending about $750 for total exhaust replacement, and ditching that single-snorkel air cleaner for a dual snorkel.
