Carter Parts Number

Where would I be able to find what car a carb went to with the carb parts numbers....In particular a Carter Q Jet for 17077769F and 57154 and 77745.

Thanks again to the Third Gen Geniuses......

Gruve,

I'm fairly certain that if it's a QuadraJet, it was made by Rochester, not Carter. If you're certain it's a Carter, it might be an AFB or ThermoQuad, but it probably isn't a Q-Jet.

Vader,

How would I find out for sure?

Also, if it's for a GM, will it bolt on to my car, L69 with stock intake.

Thanks again.

Carter manufactured an enormous number of Q-Jets under contract from GM's Rochester Products Div. So even though it has "Carter" and Quadra-Jet" cast into the side of it, it's not really a Carter carb, and that doesn't make it really any different from one that GM made themselves.

That is not a good carb #. The number you need will be on the left side of the fuel bowl, on the secondary bore, on the front of a flange that goes around the long air horn screw. If it's a computer-controlled Q-Jet it should start out with 1708 and have 4 more digits, no letters.

Those carbs may all look the same (or at least pretty similar) from the outside, but they can have massive differences inside that aren't visible to the eye. If it's not the carb for your car, chances are it won't run right. I don't know of any listing of carb to application in reverse.

I think I have some of the Q-jet decoding links at home...

I'll post them if I can find them.
