how much knock is acceptable

i think i've got my timing set pretty close to optimal performance-wise, but i do get a few knock counts showing up on the laptop at w.o.t.. i've heard that's normal. i can hear no pinging and any less timing has a negative impact on performance. my question is, what is an acceptable # of knock counts for a w.o.t. run? mine are usually in the 20-40 range. anybody know?

I'd try for none, if possible.

Try retarding the timing another degree or two and see what happens.

Yes that is very normal. Unhook the sensor and see if performance increases again. A small rattle here and there at WOT is not the end of the world. If you can't hear it with your ears and it does not hurt power output then you're good.
