Tall valve covers & Superram..Don't do it!
When I had the engine rebuilt and installed Crane 1.5 gold roller rockers, the mechanic insisted on tall valve covers to clear the rockers ( most of the posts regarding these rockers on this board recommended removing the webbing in the oem covers.) With the Superram installed you can't get at anything...4 of the fuel injectors are buried, the EGR is buried..all vacuum lines to the EGR ar hidden.
I probably going to remove the tall ones I have and replace them
with the stock ones. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!

This is a glimpse of your future with the SuperRam. Runs good maybe; but it's not for people who either work on their own cars, or can't afford to pay somebody else to deal with that for them, or don't have another car to drive while the one with the SuperRam on it is in the shop getting the umpteenth gasket of some expensive kind or other replaced (that you can only get from LPE or Accel, of course, never in stock locally).

A quick pic so you can see what I mean. What a PITA. If anyone has used the stock covers with the Crane Gold roller rockers I'd appreciate detailed instructions on what I need to do to them so I can get back some of the room these tall covers have taken up!!!!
They're all scratched and look like terrible. Also notice the AIR tubes on the Edelbrock headers...no room there either.

If you have the narrow body Crane Golds, you shouldn't have to do any clearancing with the stock centerbolt valve covers. That's the setup I'm using and I didn't have to modify my stock valve covers.
Sounds like you got the regular Crane Golds...if that's the case then you'll need to grind off those support webs. Search the LT1 board on camaroz28.com, I remember someone had pictures of them doing that.

I dont see what all the fuss is about. I got a set of talls on my car and have no probs at all. You cant access most os the stuff mentioned without the plenum runners off anyway, oh well.
Why so much hate? I have little experience with my SR, as a matter of fact I have only installed it once and guess what, NO LEAKS, its all about doing the job right the first time! Not only does it run good but it runs great!
Heres a pic with my talls, i dont understand the complaining here.
