what RPM does it idle in park? any misses or anything when U rev it?

sounds like timing isnt adjusted right

have u rebuilt the carb? any carb u get used from someone u dont really trust/know its a wise choice to rebuild it. it could be vacuum related as well.

sorry, by vacuum i meant PCV but if the engine has a vacuum leak it will run crappy... your PCV valve may be failing.

what are u using for a fuel pump? did u wire it up yourself?
have u let your car just die and go take off your fuel bowls n see if it has fuel in them? Common problem is some rig it into the oil pressure switch and not the relay causing it to stop pumping fuel when the oil pressure drops. is that a possibility? how did u wire/use for a fuel pump?

there are so many things it could be... do u even know anything about the avenger holleys? what size shooters u have? has it been rebuilt? for example if you dont have a big enough power valve in your holley, the vacuum wont open it and your just kill your fuel flow, not that that is the problem cause a stock power valve is probably plenty, but for example.. you just cant go to a garage sale with blind eyes and buy clothing n expect it all to fit perfect. its just not the way things roll.
/edit: also, what type of manifold do you have?

I have the stock 84 305 manifold stock fuel pump new fuel filter dual feed line but i did notice the 2 hoses that come out of the drivers side valve cover are open? the car runs fine in park and neutral but when i put in in gear it dies instantly. i thought there is another idle adjusting screw that you adjust the idle for when your in gear?
