idle

hello i have tpi with a extramenergy 268 cam and headers .is it normal to have to adjust the throttle body blade past the idle screw limitations?i have a throttle cable that is threaded so i can adjust cable tension.i have used this to open the blade more to keep the engine running.i have modified the prom chip and bumped up idle to coolant about 150 rpm .the chip was modified for this cam.

No, that's not normal. The IAC should be able to provide plenty of idle air. If you programmed the target idle, what is the minimum target at operating temperature?

Another detriment to adequate idle air can be the lack of a proper PCV valve. Is your's connected and the correct valve for the engine?

Are you using a MAF system or S/D?
