will this affect my compression

ok STP makes this stuff that you put in your oil and rev it for 20 minutes and it will clean out the engine... now i was wondering if this would affet the compression ratio.
i was told it was...my friend did it to his rice burning probe and it ran better...so i didn't know if the 305 will be affected differntly

my car has 121000 miles on it if that is any help

thanks a lot

Don't do it. If you have any weak spot in the gaskets, then this will create a hole in them and cause your car to leak oil. If your engine was newer, this would work well, but after 100,000 miles if you have not used it before, don't even consider it now.

It doesn't affect the compression ratio, but it may help the rings seal a little better if they're stuck, which will increase the compression.

Hoenstly though, if you put a quart of ATF in it and just leave it there for 1000 miles or so, and then change the oil, it will do about the same thing. You won't believe how much black gunk it will loosen up, and how gross the oil will be as a result. If it's really bad, use another quart with the new oil, and let it keep eating the crud out of there. A whole lot cheaper and basically risk-free as long as the motor isn't so badly crusty that the gook plugs up the oil filter. Just keep an eye on the oil during the process and if it ever gets too thick, change it right then even if the normal interval hasn't been reached yet.

This will not affect gaskets, could clean some dirt off the valve seals (good) and rear main (eh, kind of bad). If you start leaking out the rear if the dirt cleaned it away then soon enough after you change the oil it will gunk up in the same spot where it was leaking and you should be leak free.
