i put a 1974 pontica 400 in my 86 iroc along with a 66 th400 and every thing was fine then all of a sudden when its in park i hear a high pitch whining sound but when its in gear i dont hear it any more. butr some times when its in gear the car will just be sitting still. not moving anything but then after a cuple of mins it will move and be fine. what could this be?

maybe fan/alternator belt. If it's loose or worn it could slip and make a high pitched whining sound....

More likely a pump or L/R clutch pack problem.
