crate motor for 93 caprice 9c1 specs?
I recently had to have a new motor put in my 88 4wd suburban. The mechanic suggested the same motor he had in his daily driver, which was a gm crate motor meant for the 93 caprice cop cars. All the mechanic could tell me other than that was that it was a 350 roller motor. I've got 35" tires and weigh ALOT! and only 3.73 gears, but this new motor has impressed me. I have searched and searched, and then searched a little more to the point of complete frustration to find any specs on this motor. Lots of people online are talking about it but nobody is telling any of the juicy stuff. I've gathered that its an L05, but thats about the extent of it. Anybody know what cam, info on heads, how many horseys, Torque, etc.? ANYTHING AT ALL!!!?
:hail: :hail: much appreciation for any info.:hail: :hail:

I don't know what "juicy stuff" there is to tell....
Should do about the same as any other TBI 350, or around 210 HP. In other words, it's basically identical to what you have (had) in that truck, except that the factory's roller Frankenstein is installed in it. AFAIK they didn't change the cam profile when they rollerized it.
I certainly wouldn't spend that much money to get that. But that's just me.

Caprice motor
This is the engine and specs. I was looking into getting it for my IROC - it's basically a drop-in replacement for the 350 in my 1987, once you factor in drivetrain loss, it's about the same HP/Torque numbers:
I'd post the web-link - but I think that is against forum rules

Thank you TurboSteve, that was exactly the info i was hunting for. I should have just asked a long time ago. I only have one more question... on the page which that link takes you to at the top of the list of specs it says in yellow writing, "92-93B, D (LO5) (EXC 9C1) VIN CODE 7". To me that sounds like it is for the standard caprice and my motor is supposed to be for the cop car (9c1). Is that right?

GM does not make a create engine for the 9C1, cop edition. The only caprice create engine they make is the one TurboSteve posted. I have the same engine in my car, just changed the heads and cam.
