which EGR?? price???
well my car is at pepboys right now (i work there but inside) and it needs a new egr. ive been hearing tho that some of the aftermarket ones arent correct. if i get an acdelco one would that take care of the guessing totally, or are there different acdelco ones?
oh yah and ive been quoted atleast 210 bux for the EGR at pepboys and jegs, and ive been hearing peopel talking about getting then for as low as 45.. i dunno if its the car or what. its a 91 rs v-6.
thnx

Klatt,
I've read that the newer ones or (aleast in thirdgen time) are digital instead of vaccume operated and yes they seem to be pricey like your $200 quote is probably pretty accurate sorry.
------------------
TPIS airfoil,relocated MAT,AFPR,TB h2o bypass
March Underdrive Pulleys
otherwise stock 5.0TPI
700r4, 9 bolt 3.23 g92 axle, 4 wh. disc brks.

DOH, yah i guess that would prob explain it....how hard do you think it would be to install? im being quoted like 48 bux for installation, and at our hourly rate i think thats about 45 min...
ok i finally got ahold of my haynes manual and im lookin at the picture now. it looks like its sitting right there on top but it says for the digital EGR valves to have them "installed by a trained professional" or something like that. what do u need to install it?

I dont know how the digital on a chevy is setup, but on brand F we would just pull off the electronic part, and install it on the new one. Haynes manuals almost always say have a trained professional do the work
As for the replacement, you could try the junkyard but the valve could be bad as well. Its basically a crapshoot. As for a new one, I would stick to AC Delco. The aftermarket ones I have seen (hey you work there, you can check this) have a set of washers, and you are supposed to pick one based upon the orifice size on your old valve. I would avoid doing that and just get the GM valve.

The digital egr is rather simple. My cousins 92 3.1L had a digital egr. It just unscrewed (this is off the top of my head) and there's a gasket below it. Reconnect the harness, etc (be sure to keep everything clean, for the extra insurance, those electric parts are expensive, heh) and your done. Sounds simple, but all in all i think it took close to 30 minutes to do.
------------------
89 IROC-Z 350 TPI
-Flowmaster Catback
-Performance Resource Chip
-700R4 (Rebuilt) Too much done to actually list
-K&N Airfilters
-Ported Plenum
-2.77 Gears (not much to brag about but eh, its there)
-MSD 8.5 mm plug wires
-Problems every other day with the car (probably not a mod, but to me it sure makes a difference)
