Distributors..... few questions

Alright guys, i'm wanting todo the LT1 intake swap, that way i can reap the benifits of high RPM power. But todo this i have to give up my old style distributor, and my Accell High Output Distibutor Coil. The high output coil is hard to match with a remotely located coil. In order to match the output of this coil, what new style distributor would do the job?

Also i have absolutely no idea what the difference is beside one having the coil on it and the other located somewhere else. Please explain to me the benifit of this type of distributor. All i see when i look in Summit is the old style ones, not to many of the new.

Is there any way to make the LT1 Intake work with my distributor. Please treat me like a noob cause when it comes to the actuall electronics of the car i'm pretty dumb.
