Can't get heater core hoses off

Does anybody know any good tricks to get the heater core hoses unstuck? Would a heat gun help? I have one but I haven't tried it yet.

If there's enough slack in them just trim them with a razor blade. first cut the hose as short as possible then cut a line down the middle of the offending peice and it will peal right off the heater nipple.
If theres not a whole lot of slack just work a screwdriver between the hose and the nipple.

i have a set of removal tools from snap on. about all they are is a bent awl to work in between the hose and fitting, works very good for getting them off.

I recently had this problem... I tried to use a bent pick as ede was saying (although the tool he mentions probably goes deeper and is designed more specificatlly)... That didn't work as well as I'd hoped... I finally ended up getting a pair of pliars and gently grabbing the hose and twisting it laterally (to break the seal)... Then it popped right off... just be careful not to tear up the hose too bad... Worked good for me..

It's pointless to save the hose, and even more pointless to risk breaking the solder joints where the hose nipples are attached to the heater core.

Just slit it lengthwise and it comes right off.

Ok, I got it off. I just used a big pliers to twist it loose, then they pulled right off.

Put some vaseline or something on the inside edge of the hose when you put it back on so it won't do that next time..
