TPI, MiniRam, or Ramjet?

right now i have a edelbrock 600cfm carb on my '74 camaro. although it is basically new(about a year), it's giving me fits as everytime i go around a corner it doesnt inject any fuel. its not the pump, bc that is about 2 weeks old. anyways, im considering EFI, but wasnt sure which direction to go. a TPI setup would be nice for the price of a used one, but i've heard complaints about its limits. I think it was guido who loves his new miniram setup(i read what he had to say on his page).. I dont konw of anyone with a Ramjet, but from what the mag's have said about it(one thing is that it wasnt built for emissions as was the TPI systems) its more suitable for me. What do you guys think? i have a VERY mild 383 by the way, soon to have a 700R4, and i have 3.73's now.

I would go with the Mini Ram. I don't know much about the Ram Jet, other than it is expensive. I think the Mini Ram is like a grand or so. Although it is more expensive than standard TPI, the benefits outweigh the cost. You can get some serious horsepower from it. But if you can't afford it, TPI is good as well. Just my .02.

Hey, I am not trying to be a smart *** or anything, but have you checked the floats in your carb? Sounds to me like the floats might be set too low in the Carb. I have a 600cfm #1406 on my 1968 Firebird 400 and it has been a great carb for about 4 years now (no rebuild or adjustments!)

If you have a mild 383, you should be considerate of the fact that it sports lots of low-end torque. The Miniram is best only if you have a free revvin' free-flowin' cammed engine. When purchased as a standalone system, the MR comes in at about $2700 unless you can cobble up the parts on your own. I'd highly suggest you look at either a hotted up TPI (with aftermarket base, runners, 52mm throttle body and 24 lb injectors), or perhaps one of the single plane offerings by Accel or Holley. They sell for about $1800. Any EFI system you buy is going to cost you $1800 when you figure in the computer, harness, sensors, injectors, aluminum, and fuel delivery system. The Ramjet might not be a bad idea, but I think it's only available as a longblock motor for about $4400.
