Which would be better?

I'm looking at a set of 416 heads for roughly $200 that have been cleaned up and re-sealed. I'm wanting to use these on my TBI 305 along with a LT1 cam, intake and sum headers.

I'm seeing 416's and 601's for sale for fairly decent prices and just wanted to know if it would be worth takin off my junk TBI heads and just slapping these on as replacments?

And, which are better...416's or 601's?

Practically anything is better than L03 heads. The best replacement is 081s, since with those you can re-use your existing valve covers and you don't have to alter the intake; but the 416s are much better than the swirlies.

"Worth it" depends on who it's "worth it" to; it would be for me if I somehow got sucked into a L03 in the first place. I can't answer for anybody else. But if you're looking for a little more power with almost no side effects and not spending too much $$$, then they're a great way to go.

Stick with the 081's for the reasons mentioned above. You will have to spend more money to make the 416's work. They are a great head but only after you do the necessary work to them.
