heater control valve.....metal?

Does anyone know if there is a heater control valve made that has a higher quality than the plastic ones? (metal?) Mine seems to start leaking at the bottom about every
4-6 months and I have to replace it.

What do you have radoactive antifreeze? I would recomend checking for heat sources such as the valve covers it sits on, and seeing if you can dispate that heat somehow.

My 85 Caprice has a metal heater control valve. So yes, they do make them.

When was the last time you changed your antifreeze? Old antifreeze can become acidic and corrode your heater valve, causing those leaks.
