Car: 1985 Z-28
Engine: a big one
Transmission: 4 spd auto soon to be a 6 speed
HELP!!!
I don't know where to post this.
My ignition switch is really difficult to turn back to the off position.
My car will start, but getting it to initialy unlock, and then to lock is a pain to do, literally
I took the key cylinder out, so it is not that, I think that it is the rod going to the switch, has anybody had this proble before? If so I really need some help with my dilema.

Last time I saw this it was the switch down on the column.

It is getting pretty late, I'll try to fix it later. anyone else had this probem?

Either Engineboy is correct or the rack gear (item 38) on the left side of the column (opposite the key cylinder) is getting some debris in it (or is crumbling). It's also possible that the linkage rod (item 63) from the rack/sector assembly in the upper column to the switch on the lower column tube is binding where it passes between the column outer jacket and the support saddle for the column to dash. There isn't a lot of space there, and if the rod twists or moves a little, it can start to bind on the column.
After about ten years of use (or non-use) I've found it beneficial to open up the column and clean/lube all the moving parts with Lubriplate or any other white lithium grease - turn signal cams, bearings, pivots, and tilt universal joint included. Then again, I can be a little **** at times.
