Holley Dominator

I ve posted here as i never seem to many replies on the carb board....
I have a 1989 transam i have just fitted a new 750 Dominator and have found out my edelbrock aircleaner wont fit due to size of air cleaner hole not being big enough for dominator and my air cleaner is drop base so thats a problem as well...
i need some advice on an aircleaner that will fit on my dominator and fit under my hood on my transam as well any suggestion please....or any of your pics of your setup with a dominator on your 3rd gen would help give me some idea of acceptable setups....

I ve just found out that my bonnet wont clear any airfilter without modifying the bonnet or removing 2in dominator to squarebore spacer.
Has any one on this forum ever fitted a dominator to there 3rd gen firebird or camero,if you have what modifications did you have to undertake....??:hail:

Any help here would be appriecated...

what type of intake are you running? most aftermarket intakes are made to fit a square bore carb like a holley and shouldn't require a spacer, otherwise hood clearance is a major issue with these cars. Short of buying a cowl induction hood I don't think you have much of a chance of running that with a spacer in there. if your still running a stock intake you could always slap a replacement intake in there like a edlebrock proformer that will allow the carb to bolt directly to it. n why can't british people call a hood a hood and a ground a ground! hehe

well you could always get an air cleaner for dominator carb. and an intake for dominator carb.

air cleaner

because he is using a holley dominator carb 4500 series. not a standard 4150 or 4160 carb.

this one to be exact
holley 0-80186-1 750 dominator

I already have an edelbrock performer intake and if i get a squarebore intake it still wont fit as the dominator a 4500 model carb which is to wide to fit to a square bore intake hence the need for the 2" adapter plate.
if i buy a intake to fit the holley dom 4500 it will probably be a high rise intake any way ,correct me if i am wrong so i will still need to cutout part of the hood and fit a cowl instead.
i would like to know of anyone who has already fitted a raised cowl to there 3rd gen firebird and how high the cowl need to be to clear the holley 4500 and a 3" filter.
if i shut the hood it touches the top of the holley 4500 750cfm dominator.
any pics would help. i cant be the only person on this forum who has attempted this....:hail:

my question is, why are you using a Dominator style carb with a performer intake? way too much carb for that sort of setup. but anyway, here is an old photo of a dominator we used last year. with this setup, we needed a minimum 2" cowl with a 3"element air cleaner. sorry, no photos with this hood since we didn't use the dominator very long.
