I was driving on the highway with the cruise on when I stepped on the brake to slow down. To my surprise the cruise control made the car accelerate as soon as I let off the brake.
By way of my genious intuition I decided to put the shifter in neutral (Engine went straight to redline.....thought the engine would blow straight through the hood)
Anyway I figured the problem is in the switch located near the clutch and brake pedal. The control funtions work fine from the switches on the steering column. However, the Chilton manual is not too informative on this. Anybody ever had to repair or adjust this before? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

well i fixed your multithread problem, too bad i can't fix your cruise control problem. i've never worked on a thirdgen cruise but on all that i have the brake light switch turns it off. that be the first thing i looked at.

Ede is right. Check the brake light switch first.
