Ignition system, think I found my problem
Alright, long story short... (86 2.8 V6)
Last week while was driving to work I lost my power steering, breaks hardened up on me and after regaining control of my car (was going around a curve and didn't expect this) I looked at my tach and it was at 0. Threw the car into neutral to try and restart and it just sat there and cranked. So I coasted it into a parking spot off on the side of the road where it sat for a day. So anyways, I busted out the spark checker and sure enough there was nothing. so I yanked out my coil to check the resistance on it and all was good. Ended up going to autozone and replacing the Ignition module and the car fired right up... I thought to myself "good deal". Put about 300 Miles on the car over the weekend without a single hickup, however last night at work on my lunchbreak a friend and I were driving to get food.. The car sputtered once while I was in the parking lot but it quickly came to. I didn't think twice about it and kept going. As soon as I made it on the street it died again. So after digging around under the hood for about 20 minutes I yanked the 2 wire harness that runs from my Coil to my Module, Sure enough the insulation was worn down and there was wire exposed. I busted out my multi meter and at first it read as if it was open. After some wiggling around I got a good reading, but I'm fairly sure this is causing my problem. I just got off the phone with the dealer and they can have me a new one at 8 AM tommorow morning (The break is too close to the plug to splice.) If you guys have any feedback, advice, or ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
