HEI Distributor Questions!!
Right then... My car isn't starting, its getting fuel and theres little to no spark... sooo... I'm looking at one of three things... Cap, Rotor and Coil...
Since I'm going MSD parts... What the hell is a Window Cap ? Is that the caps with the Coil on the top of it? or is it something different? The cap I have and the cap I am getting has the Coil on top... so this answer is needed for the decision of the Rotor... either a normal MSD Rotor, or aa MSD Racing Rotor.
I have the cap I need, just going to swap the coil and get a new rotor until I can afford a new Coil and the MSD High Energy Module ... if the cap and rotor doesn't fix my camaro not starting, I'll get the Coil next and leave the module alone for now (assuming that also isn't fried).
My car cranks fine even though I know the starter is going out, its not the problem, it just doesn't fire up... one week it was fine, the next, nothin, won't start, and I replaced the plugs and wires (which ended up being in decent condition anyways, but I wanted something better)...
Anyone have any other suggestions or have an answer for the cap thing? Here's hopin

the window cap would be for points i think. i'd just buy standard parts and stay away from "race only" stuff for the street.

Not so much the pickup coil but the actual ignition module could be bad.
No spark can only be a few things. Make sure the power wire is on the cap. The large pink wire. Unless the rotor button inside the cap is melted, changing the cap and rotor won't fix a no spark problem.

I had a very similar problem. My car just died all of a sudden and my coil started smoking. I replaced the coil and still nothing. About a whole day of diagnosing, I changed the control module (very easy to change) and everything was back to normal.
