Just got a used Bosch Pump. which was does it flow? in and out location?

that's a pretty vague question since I can't see the pump and there are several thousand different bosch pumps on the market. every inline pump I've ever seen had an arrow for flow or in and out marked on the pump.

I know this sucks.

 

Would you be able to hook it up to a battery and run hoses to a small tank of water to see which way it flows? I'm not too knowledgable about fuelpumps.
