What makes the steering wheel stop turning?
Is it something in the steering coloumn or the box or something else. How can I fix mine that goes 1 1/8 turns to the left, but over 1 1/2 to the right?
The steering travel is limited byt the steering gearbox, and by the clearance of the tires at the sub frames and stabilizer bar.
If your steering is not centered there are a couple of possibilities. Either someone performed an alignment and did not bother to check the wheel center, or you have some tire interference at the sub frames and/or stabilizer bar. Look for highly polished areas in the wheel openings where the tire might be lightly rubbing on either of these when turning.
If nothing is broken and interfering with the steering travel, the solution is a proper alignment at a reputable shop (i.e. - NOT Sears Auto Center or the like).
