Do I need a different torque converter?
I have a 87 TA w/ a 700r4. I have bored the engine .030 over, added 22# injectors, Pete Jackson gear drive, .480 total lift(with 1.6 roller rockers), removed the cat, hooker shorties, 2.77 9 bolt disc rear, stock tranny. Will the stock stall speed converter be good for street driving. The car will probably never see the strip, so I am looking for some go power off the line in town. Help Please

Yes. With that terrible gear, anything you can do to improve the engine's leverage from a stop will help.

heh, RB is correct, it made my car feel a heck of alot more fun and....crisp to drive. Our nice hiway gears have alot to be desired so try and help them out a little..i personally would try something like 2000 - 2800 depending on what you can tolerate...

If your against getting a different gear ratio I would get a different stall but if not I would get a 3.42 first, then later on get a different stall to compliment the gears.
