Will JB Weld stand up to the heat of sealing brass pipe plugs for the AIR system holes in the exhaust manifold? I think that may be where my leak is. Thanks guys.

 

You could try it. But I was looking at their website and it says not to use it on exhaust or anything over 500F..

 

Crap. I guess I could try it though since I was just going to tighten the plugs some and smooth the JB over them, so it won't have direct exposure to exhaust gases. I need to know the exterior temperature of the mainfolds I guess. Where's a temperature gun when you need one .

 

I cut the AIR tubes off my exhaust manifolds. Then, I ran some self-tapping bolts in the holes with a whole lot of JB weld inside the hole and around the edge. I had one blow out, but I put it back in with more JB weld. This was almost a year ago, and it's still holding strong.

make sure you use the regular jb weld...not the quick stuff, i think the regular hold about 600* while the quick will hold only 300* or soemthing close to those ##"s

Good. The regular is what I have so I'll try that out. I checked the tightness of those brass plugs and it turns out I could run them in another 3-4 turns so I'm going to see how that holds up for now. Thanks guys.

 

I seriously doubt it would work... get some exhaust cement / sealer, it should do the trick.
