I believe the stock is umm.. 195? Something like that. 160 is too low for most appliations, 180 is juuuuuuust right. heh. In my opinion, that is.

What's it do?

The lower the thermostat, the cooler your engine can get. The stock operating tempuratures for our cars are a bit high, that's to keep emissions down. However, there's a loss of power there. So, cool the engine down a bit more, and get more power. Nothing huge, of course.

On the other side.. cool the engine down TOO much and you'll once again be losing power. Some computer-controlled cars will have a problem running a 160* thermostat with the stock computer chip.. then again, some people haven't had problems. *shrug*

On the plus side, they're really cheap (3-4 bucks) and really easy to change (2-3 minutes).

the lower thermostat would help keep the engine cooler and some what better performance but it depends on the mods

Hmm.. 160 might be too cold for that. Try a 180 first, they're not expensive anyways.

My LG4 does just fine with a 180* thermostat. Of course, you really won't feel any difference in power, it's so insignificant.
Make a list of what you got and you're current mods to flash around so we can help you out (see below)
