What should i do?
I just bought an 88 Formula. It has a hard time starting up and my stepdad says that the timing needs to be advanced. I just think it needs a battery, new plugs and new wires. I turn the key and it struggles for a while but it eventually starts up. What should i do?
Stick a battery charger on it. Either at ~10A or at 25-50A if your charger has a 'starter' function, follow the directions, though.
If it helps it start, it would probably benefit from a newer battery and plugs, etc.
If you don't have a charger, just jump it with an isolated battery or with your dad's car. If it fires right up, then I'd definately look into a new battery, plugs, wires etc. Check your plugs anyway.
Also, try squirting some gas in the carb (or is it a tpi?) and see if that helps any.
Laters,
Scott

It's a 305 TBI. Allegedly it only has 60,000 miles on the motor but the rest of the car has 112,000 in it. it only cost me $550 so i can't complain no matter what i have to do.
