windshield wiper washer

Hello all, I have an '87 Firebird. The windshield Washers don't work. It's a pulse wiper unit, I can't seem to get it to work. Tested Washer motor and wiring, it works, switch seems to work also. I'm thinking it's the electronic wiper/washer cover. Malfunction? Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong would be great.

Thanks!

When you hit the wipers do you hear the motor buzzing at all or is it just dead silence? Your gears could be burnt or something internal. it could be as simple as a dead fuse.

waher wiper

Well, I hooked up the washer motor to positive neg terminal on my battery and it makes noise and works. No blown fuses. No plugged lines. Just doesn't want to pump water. How do you manually prime the pump? I've heard I can try that but don't know how. Can the pump run but not pump at the same time? Maybe it just isn't strong enough? I've pretty much tried everything at this point and I'm at a lose.

Hit it, no lie, hit it. My friend's truck's wipers don't work sometimes, all I do is get out, pop the hood, and hit the motor and they come right on.

My Formula 87 did the same. Bought a motor/pump from autozone - problem fixed. Motor/pump is held in the washer assemply (on the firewall) by a clip. It's hard to see though since it's facing downwards. I removed the whole assembly to get it replaced. Just make sure that you record the position of the rotor/sensor that connects to the wiper gear. You will see what I mean once you open it.

That's bad solder connections on the PCB inside the motor, vary common.
