Need help with my AC!!!
OK, I bought my car last April, and the guy told me that every year the AC has to be charged. Last year, I put the only 3 cans of R-12 I had into the AC, but it did work very well. I fired up the AC yesterday, and the compressor did even kick on. I'm gussing that's b/c the freon level is too low. My question is: (1) How many cans of freon will it take to fully charge my AC system, & (2) would it be worth it in the long run to switch to R-134a and what would be invloved in doing that?
I need advice, there is no way I can go through another summer without my AC.

I assume you meant the compressor didn't even kick on.
There should be a sticker on the AC housing that tells how much (in pounds) it holds. But, you should really locate and fix this leak before you waste any more of this rare stuff.
If you convert to R134a, same answer, except not only find and fix the leak but replace the receiver/dryer and expansion tube as well.
