Help with ID numbers

I bought a 1992 Camaro about 7 months ago for the low price of $3300. After driving it for a while I realized it had more power than a 305 could offer. Well my dad got the serial number from the engine and looked it up and said it was definitely not a 305. Is there anyone that can help my with finding out what kind of engine is in my car, the number is 10108449. I am pretty sure thats right, it was really hard to read all the numbers on the block, it was hidden pretty well. Any help is appreciated..

RS,

Welcome aboard!

If you ever have questions on casting numbers, check http://www.mortec.com.

That number doesn't show in their database, but make sure the number is correct. The SERIAL number is located on the right front deck, while the CASTING number is located on the left rear ledge, just next to the distributor.

Hey,
I triple checked the block number and it is 10108449. I am having the worst time trying to find out where I can get the info on my engine. I've spent many a sleepless night on the internet trying to find where the id number could be. I know that the engine is older than a 90, and just about all I can find is the 70s or 80s id numbers. Are there any other possible places to look for it? I was thinking of going down to borders and looking up the camaro numbers books or possibly even running it down to the dealership. Any help please!
