oil looks like sludge
my friend was driving his 85 camaro and the oil pressure dropped real low and he drove it like that for a week and told me the next week i said it was probably the sending unit because it was like at almost 0 and didn't nock or make noise according to him for a week, then i listen he revs it up to 2500-3000rpm and i hear noises and tell him to stop. he needed to cahnge oil any way so we took filter off and drained oil the filter was full of what looked like glittery gray grease is the motor shot it doesn't make noise at idle with what oil pressure it has, could he put a new pump in and get more life out of the engine till he can afford to rebuild it

in a perfect world yes its shot and needs replaced but he has no money and we were wondering if a new oil pump would let it keep running a little longer till he can afford a new motor ,since it doesn't make noises at idle and pump will make 20 psi and slowly drop off as it gets hot so pump has not totally failed

Sounds to me like it's too late.
If there's what looks like glitter in the oil, that's metal shavings from bearings, cam lobes, and other moving parts. No amount of oil pressure will put the metal back where it came from. The oil pump is probably fine anyway; they usually survive this sort of thing without too much damage. So changing it won't help anything.
Basically, the motor is toast. Let this be a lesson to him to check his oil a little more regularly, do something about it when it starts to look like something besides oil, and to stop driving the car when the oil pressure disappears. Maybe take it a little easier on the engine in the meantime. I'm just guessing here, but maybe there was some .... ahhh, .... let's just say, enthusiastic test drives involved here?
