TPI to Carb swap - Which wires for distributor?
I'm trying to hook up a new distributor, but I dont know what wires to use - there's 2 possible harnesses back there, but because I sold my old coil, I don't know which harness went to it...(I know - I'm an idiot)
Option 1) Black harness that looks like 2 tubes side by side - has 1 pink wire w/black stripe & 1 grey wire. (both same guage)
Option 2) Grey harness with 2 exposed male prongs inside - has 1 pink wire and 1 white wire - pink wire is heavier guage than white
Which one you figure?
Also of note: I learned this morning that EFI fuel line fittings are different than carbed fuel line fittings - so now I have to take the metal lines off, cut off the ends and get them flared to fit normal fittings...

The pink heaver guage wire is for your dist. + and the white wire is for your tach.Your are going from an external coil dist. to a HEI correct?

Also before you go cutting fuel lines remember there going to have to thred into a FPR unless your swapping out your fuel pump and pickup for a carbd one and I would use the correct adapter to get the stock lines to connect to your regualtor before I'ed cut any lines.

For fuel lines, when i switched from EFI to carb, is i got standard 3/8" rubber line rated for EFI (high pressure) and cut the factory line, put a set of hose clamps (im paranoid about that kind of stuff) over the line and ran a standard 3/8" hose fitting to a mallory 4309. I then used 2 more 3/8 fittings (Same 3/8" high pressure rubber line to gap to the factory hard line) and ran to the carb and the rerturn. That way i avoided any complex flaring or what not. Havent had any troubles yet. Then again, i swapped from CFI, which might operate at a lower PSI than what you are swapping from.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to hook up the distributor this morning, then it's off to the Speed Shop to get whatever fittings and/or lines to get the fuel hooked up...and then..could it actually run this week?....oh right, first I have to deal with the 'wrong sized throttle cables" dilema.....

You'll need ones off a 305 carbd car. There pretty easy to find, remember 82-87 cars were carb and the majority of third gens you'll find in the junkyard are going to be the older ones that fall in this year range.

You can buy fittings that convert the TPI ones to AN style fittings. Earls sells them. I've told the part numbers on here so many times I'm not even gonna go look it up anymore... Do a search and you'll be set
No reason to go hacking up stuff.
My stock throttle cable works fine although it is too long so it makes the pedal stiffer.
