running hotter after heater core bypass/control valve delete

my heater core started to leak so i bypassed it and at the same time got rid of the heater control valve and the metal coolant line that sits on the passenger side of the motor. but now i noticed that the car runs a little warmer than before and also it warms up faster when cold so i was wondering if this is normal. i routed a new hose from the TB bypass straight to the oil cooler lines. here's a pic.
