Help me please!!!!

Hey I wrote in a while back and got lots of responses...thanks....but I will give a brief explanation of the problem at hand.

I have an 88 T/A 305 TPI wich is pretty much stock. Left it parked for a month. Came home started it, it worked fine....took it out of the garage...drove around the block and parked it.

Next day I got up...started the car...it started....went to a slightly higher than usual idle speed for about 20 seconds...started chugging...sputtering...popping noises started coming out of the intake...I gave it some gas and it nearly died...let go of the gas and it revved up for a second. It barely runs in neutral and to run it under a load I have to press the gas, let go press it let go for about 5 minutes until the rpms are going from 3000 to 3500 then drop the clutch and gun it. Its hard to test some of the things on it because it won't stay running. I've got code 33 and 34. I've checked the TPS, the ignition control module, MAF Sensor, MAF relays, Cat, Oxygen sensor, wiring from all these to the ecm, it has a new fuel filter, everything else seems good.

What would cause a drastic change like this from one day to the next?

Please anyone help....it hasn't been running in over a month and I have to smog it so I can register it.....any ideas are appreciated

I'd suggest re-checking your MAF(and relays, ground) and your cat. Your engine isn't breathing. I don't know if there's a code for a clogged cat or not, so maybe it would also throw a MAF code. But both problems cause the running condition you're describing.

If you don't get it solved in time to register it, and if you have another car to drive in the mean time(since you won't be driving this one anyway), then register your car non-op so it's not late. Then you'll have all the time you need to get it fixed and smogged.

Your registration fees are probably only around $50 anyway, right? So another $10 non-op fee won't kill you, and it'll save you a year's-worth of time(actually an infinite amount--you only pay one time, not each year) without costing you any late fees.

Might also check the air filters and ducting. Strange things like to make their homes in them. Found a wasp nest in mine after it had sat for a while.

hey I actually put a new MAF sensor and relays and it still runs the same and I checked the voltages and wiring to and from the ecm to the MAF and relays and it all seems fine

I just got the back end of the cat off of the exhaust and it runs the same I just need to get it off of the front (coming from the engine) that thing is on there man! As far as the intake being clogged i checked and its not. Thanks guys...don't give up yet I'll get this yet
