Do I keep the LS1 or 406?

I need to make a decision between two motors. I have the following motors:

406 SBC with Ross forged custom flat-top pistons, Comp Cam, Eagle rods, Dart ported heads. Has TPI setup with miniram.

346 LS1 with stock rods, forged aftermarket pistons, freshly machined crank, Comp Cam, ported LS1 heads and LS6 intake.

Which one should I use? The 406 is built to take healthy doses of giggle gas but I could also turbo charge the LS1... Hell it's making great power with the heads/cam combo already.

I think I need to sell one of them as I am going to keep my black 84 and sell my white 84 to switch platforms after this racing season.

and while I'm deciding, I have a race built 700r4 that is ready to go. I really would like to have a T56. Is it worth the several thousand I will spend to first obtain a T56, and then to get the T56 to live behind either motor, especially considering clutches? I know the guy who built my 700r4, he runs those trannies behind his 800HP+ buildups.

Plus the 700r4 has a great shiftkit and with the torque convertor... man it'll break your neck shifting... with my race shifter It's not all that different than having a manual.... Is it really worth it?

my friend up the street runs 11's N/A with a stock LS1 transam with automatic tranny & 2.73 gears.
Just this week someone got into the 10's N/A with a mostly stock LS1 engine (ported heads & cam).
They are doing very well without a power adder.

I'm not so sure you'd be better off with the 406.

There is no way in my mind that a manual tranny build up is worth the trouble.. IMO

Yeah I am confident I will be in the low 11s with just my heads and cam combo. The 406 was only running high 11s. I just like it because I was running enough happy happy gas to run mid 10s and it never pitched a bitch.

How much do you think I could sell that 406 for? Keep in mind it is fuel injected with all the harnesses and custom computer, etc.

ODB is correct, plenty of people are getting into 11's with MTI's Stage II heads and the T1 Cam. Others are playing around in the mid to low 12's with the airbox, port maf ends, and rear gears.

I know guys runing 650RWHP on a T-56 no problems except clutches.. A TwinDisk clutch will cost you around 900 bucks to handle that much h.p. 650 is kind of pushing it, but they are holding up.

I would do the LS1 just for the WOW factor.. Dont se many :LS1s in 3rd gens.
LS1 motors are incrediable..Their heads are flowing well over 300 cfm with fully ported heads..Go to MTIs website for some killer E.T.s and dyno #s with various setups on the LS1s.
