Anyone here running a big block in a 3rd Gen? Is it even possible, I mean the small blocks are pretty tight in there. If a BBC motor is possible, do you have to make mods to the crossmember, suspension, or anything else?

Off the top of my head I can only think of about 4 BBC 3rd gen's here and at least that many in the buildup/change over phase. I've got SBC mounts (stock location), V-6 suspension, and the the stock rear. I did do alot of work to keep the trans cool. I added a remote filter, seperate cooler in front of the rad and a small frame rail cooler. Most likely overkill on the coolers but I believe that 3 things kill trannys. Heat, the driver, and high hp engines. In that order. I ditched the A/C and all the emissions. If I were a lead foot there would be no way I would have even thought about running a 700R4 or the stock rear with a 396.

I've read an article and seen some pic's that GM was testing and considering putting a 454 in early 3rd gens the Pics I saw were Pretty Tight fit!!
I just found it as a matter a fact.. they also put in the zr1 Quad cam corvett motors in there and they tried both Multi Port Fi 454 and Carb 454
