A/c delete?

Hi Guys/Girls, I'm new here and unfortunately, I don't own a 3rd gen.........just an 84 vette. Now before anybody groans, I'm here because none of the vette guys can(or want to) help me and our cars are similar enough under the hood that I hoped someone here might be able to help. This is gonna be long, but please bear with me. My 84 vette has the L-83 crossfire which is pretty much the same as found in F-bodies of that year. I almost have my motor back together and I want to delete the A/c compressor and run a shorter belt........has anybody done this? If I route a shoter belt the stock way, but bypass where the comprssor was, the tensioner wont touch the belt!! I really don't want to put it back on, so if anybody has ideas I'm listening. I did have a part number for a factory a/c delete pulley/bracket, but I've lost it and nobody knows what i'm talking about......do you? Thanks for any help.................F BODIES ROCK!!!!!!!:hail: :hail:

Im sure it's much harder finding a factory AC delete pulley for a Vette since most of them were equipped with AC. The pulley should be the same for 84-91 Vettes anyway so if you cant find one on a wrecked Vette, then the dealership should be able to help you out. And you will have to modify your heaterbox to accept just coolant lines instead of the receiver-AC lines and coolant lines. Some F-Body guys have been using non-AC S10 boxes and just modifying them a bit. Good luck with it anyway, it's going to be a bit of work.
