Put new fuel pump in and car still does not start!
86 ta tpi. My fuel pump does not make any noise when I turn the key on. It cranks but it does not start. No gas comes out of the schrader valve in my fuel rail when i pressed on it. I replaced the fuel pump (a 1 hour job thanks to work done by a previous owner who cut a hole above the gas tank to access the fuel pump). I now have a new pump, pulsator, and fuel strainer and still get no results when i try to start it. I used the code scanner port / diagnostic leads to test the new pump and it works and makes its noise when I give it 12 volts, YAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! B.F.D. because the car still does not start. I still get no noise when I turn the key on. Whats up with this? Any ideas on whats not working?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Did you check the in-line 20 AMP fuse in the engine bay that supplies power to the fuel pump relay. It should be located near your battery.

Trickster you DA MAN!!! I fount the "hidden fuse" by the battery and it was blown. That will teach me to read a troubleshooting service manual before buying new parts. Oh well, I can kiss that 85$ goodbye but now I have good new parts that should give me 100%. BTW, It blew out my replacement fuse too. It seems that I have a section of bare wires at the relay and they are touching eachother, this is blowing my fuse.:hail:

Yeah, Im lucky, I am allowed to make mistakes on my own car
If I had been working at a repair shop I may have had the cost of my mistake taken out of my pay and could have been fired if the customer or boss got too angry with me. Thats why I dont do it for a living.
