How do I get that darn smog pulley off?

88 TA 5.7 tpi

It looks like I need to remove the actually pulley (not the entire assembly) gain access to a bolt that will allow me to pull off the entire bracket assembly for the serpentine accessories.

I tried removing the 3 screws on this pulley last night, but the pulley just spins under the pressure. I've tried using two wrenches/rachets and managed to get two bolts left by pulling in oposite directions, but, while trying to get the last bolt off, it tightens another one. These bolts seem impossible to get off.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Am I correct that I have to remove this to get the brackets off?

Take out 2 of the bolts partway; then wedge a tire tool or something between them to hold the pulley still. Just make sure you leave them as short as possible so you don't break them off.

If you can get access to a air wrench or impact gun either will take them off in a second.

Or, if you don't use either of those two methods (both of which will work great), you could put the belt back on, and use it to help you hold the pulley loose while you loosen the bolts... Then take the belt back off and get them the rest of the way off...
