You don't even need the ruler. The glass bends enough to get your arm in there.

just use a hanger with a hook go on the outside between the window and door by the lock, raise hanger up and down and sideways till you catch a metal bar..easiest doors Ive ever opened.

does anyone have any footage of it being done? iam in the dark on this one. when you say the lock, you mean the inside lock, or the actual lock by the seam of the door?

p.s. i have zero patience so this might be rough.

actual keyhole side outside of the door...if you bend the hanger at a 90* you may have better luck..more down that up

best I can do..not much help.. The bottom rod is the lock..you have to push down on it to unlock..as close to the key as you can get

Red Devil's right. I've had to do that on mine before. G-E-N-T-L-Y pull out on the glass and then fish your arm in there, unlock the door. After that, do what I did. Go and make a spare door key and put it in your wallet

There,

Anyway, i took a couple pictures, its rather simple.

Picture one is a picture with the window down, looking down on top of the driver side door. You can see the lock cylinder on the right(what you put the key in), and a tab sticking off the left of it with a rod that it engages. To unlock the door that tab moves from the 9 o-clock position(as shown) to a 7 o-clock position.

Picture two, place a ruler like so, guide it down between the weatherstripping, and the window, feel for that tab, and push it down.

Door Unlocked.

The post by Scottland is dead on... that is how I do it. Only tip I might add.... if it's your first time, pry the door seal back a bit with a wedge.. or a big flat screw driver and shine a little pen light in the door so you can see exactly what your doing. After you've done it a few times, you will be able to do it "by feel" quite easily... usually within 3 seconds.

Rather disconcerting how easy it is to get into a locked 3rd gen isn't it.

My stereo was just stolen 2 weeks ago, wonder how they broke in

on my new ride I'm planning on welding a "shield" around the lock cylinder... so it can't be hit from the top.. but there are so many ways to get in... an good alarm is the best thing you can do IMO..... alot of punks will keep walking if they see a flashing light.. most will bump the car to check for an alarm.

TRAXION showed me the ruler trick at thirdgen nationals. It works so easily. It is crazy.

I would use the ruler before I started pushing the glass and stuff in.

I locked my keys in just days after i bought the car. I never checked on how to open the car, so i just thought up of ways i can do it. Lucky for me though, is i didnt compleletly shut the drivers side door in, so there was some spacing between the window and body.

My goal was to try and push the unlock button with a flexible thin pole. After a few hours of headache, and scratching the tint inside of my window a bit, i managed to flex this pole to the passenger side unlock button, and quickly jab it to press it in.

I can say i took the stupid way of approaching it, but next time ill have spare keys in my wallet.
